The Lib Dem Dorset Council have released proposals to build 5,446 houses in Lytchett Minster, 472 more in Lytchett Matravers and the establish a Gypsy and Traveller Site off Dorchester Road. All the sites and details can be found at: https://www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/dorset-is-changing.Our infrastructure is already at capacity, our roads get jammed, our doctors surgeries are busy, our schools are full... all our public amenities are strecthed as it is.The environmental impacts will also be vast and damning. Many parts of our local community already have to deal with flooding on a seasonal basis, with flood at the Baker's Arms Roundabout bringing residents lives and commuters journeys to a standstill. Yet the proposal is to concrete over this green land, which will cause more runoff and more flooding in the village. The sites highlighted are in the greenbelt, an area used for farming, protecting habitats and enjoying our natural beauty - away from the chaos of suburbia. We are the most nature deplete country in the world according to recent reports, and Dorset Council want to take this key acess point to nature away from us.On the peripheries of County Hall, we are expected to take an unproportionate amount of development in order to hit centralised and unsustainable targets - with our area expected to take 10% of that for the total county. This is all while sensible and pragmatic proposals of two new towns for our county equipped with full amenities and infrastructure were ignored, and a policy of erasing village boudnaries and strecthing already strained infrastructure undertaken. We need new homes suitable for local needs and to strengthen our communities, instead we are facing the brunt of unsustainable mass overdevelopment which will reduce the quality of life for residents new and old.We need to tell the Lib Dem Council that these proposals are unnacceptable, unfair and unsustainable for our local community and environemnt. We deserve a fair deal and to be listened to. It's time for them to recosnider their approach to the Local Plan and protect our green spaces and quality of life for local residents. What are your main concerns about the proposed 5,918 proposed new houses? Dentists It is extremely diffuclt to get an NHS dentist in the local area as it is, imagine another potential 14,000 residents adding to that pressure. Doctors Our GP surgeries already have a high doctor to patient ratio, and expanding the population will taker this over the edge. Roads We all know how busy the A350, A35, Dorchester Road, Poole Road and many other roads within our area can get - espeically at rush hour. Adding another potential 8,000 cars to our area would make travelling unbearable. Schools Our schools are already full up, we need improved infrastructure for exisitng residents beforew even thinking of increasing the pressure with new houses. Flooding Lytchett Minster going down to the Baker Arms Roundabout already experiences seasonal and flash flooding, by concreteing over the greenbelt it will cause more runoff and widespread flooding in our area. Unfair amount of houses allocated About 10% of the total hosuinbg allocation for Dorset has been given to our area, we do not think this is fair and shows how little Dorchester cares or knows about our area Destruction of the greenbelt Our green spaces provide land for farming, habitats and mitigate environmental issues like flooding yet vast amounts of land are proposed to be concreted over to accomodate urban sprawl All of the above Are you against the proposed Gypsy and Traveller Site off Dorchester Road? Yes No Unsure We do not belive the land off Dorchester Road and Randalls Hill is a suitable location for a Gypsy & Travellers site, do you also oppose this proposal? Do you think there should be more employment opportunites for local people included? Yes No Unsure Have you been impacted by flooding in our local area? Yes, as a local resident Yes, when travelling No Please let us know about any other concerns or comments you have:
